Ukraine and Europe: new systems

Ukraine's SkyFall delivered its first StarGate evacuation drone to the troops for removing wounded from positions

The first CASEVAC drone in Ukraine (casualty evacuation, evacuating a wounded soldier from the battlefield without medical personnel on board) has appeared at the front. It closes a gap in which a ground robot takes two to three hours to reach a wounded soldier, while vehicles get burned by FPV drones (first person view, controlled via a first-person camera). The request came from the commander of the Code 9.2 drone assault regiment, Oleksandr "Flint" Nastenko. In October the aircraft was handed over to the regiment for testing in combat conditions (source).

[TECH] The post contains full specifications and a description of the communications (source). It is a six-rotor copter with an enclosed capsule around a stretcher and a payload of up to 150 kg: enough for a soldier in body armour and full kit. Range is 15 km one way, cruising speed 65 km/h, maximum 105 km/h, so 10 km is covered in a matter of minutes within the "golden hour". Pre-flight preparation takes about 10 minutes (source).

Communications are duplicated over two channels: Starlink and the in-house L-Link. Onboard AI allows navigation without GPS and under EW (electronic warfare, suppression of communications and navigation), and upon complete loss of communications the aircraft withdraws to a safe zone on its own. For self-defence it carries a net launcher against FPVs and an EW device. The drone continues flying if one beam is lost.

Price starts at $50 thousand. SkyFall claims it will reach 1000 units per month by the end of 2026. This is the manufacturer's figure, not an acceptance result. The main question raised by Ukrainian commentators themselves is the vulnerability of the capsule over the "zero line". Serhii "Flash" responds that the aircraft is not flown directly over the Russian side's positions (source).

Ukraine's EDRONE unveiled the DRAKON reconnaissance drone — a military replacement for the DJI Mavic with its own FHSS

This is another Ukrainian attempt to move away from Chinese commercial copters on the battlefield. Its key feature is its own FHSS (frequency-hopping spread spectrum, protecting the link from jamming) and altitude hold without GPS. Claimed figures are up to 50 minutes of flight, a cruising speed of 70 km/h and a maximum of up to 100 km/h. Guaranteed communications range is 10 km, flight range at least 20 km, payload 0.5 kg, wind resistance up to 12 m/s (source).

[TECH] The post contains specifications and the configuration lineup (source). The aircraft carries a SIYI ZR-10 camera with 10x zoom on a three-axis gimbal; the frame is carbon. Modularity allows it to be used as a reconnaissance drone, bomber or relay for FPVs. Data diverge: texBPLA cites "at least 40 minutes". These are vendor figures.

The fixed-wing strike drone "Baton/D4" spotted with the "Khyzhak" police brigade — without radio or mesh

The fixed-wing strike drone is used not by the army but by an assault brigade of the Patrol Police Department. This shows how deeply strike UAVs (unmanned aerial vehicles) are spreading across agencies. According to the author of the images, the item costs about $1300. Communications run neither over radio nor via a mesh network (a network in which nodes relay one another) but through a larger relay quadcopter developed by the "Third Assault" (source). The "cheap striker plus airborne relay" scheme reduces dependence on ground antennas.

update Knyaz Vladimir Svyatoslavovich — first video of a combat sortie and footage of Ukrainian interceptions

The ring-wing drone from the Russian NPTs "Ushkuynik" has moved from trials into the troops. Along with the first Russian combat footage, Ukrainian recordings have appeared of a pair of these aircraft being intercepted at once (source). The ring allows vertical takeoff, after which it "lies on the wing" for horizontal flight. It also shields the propellers from nets and anti-aircraft drones. Claimed range is up to 50 km.

New in terms of capabilities: an image of the target is loaded into the software, and the drone can lock onto the object by itself and guide the munition to it if the link is lost (source). The video cuts off as a Ukrainian interceptor approaches, so the effectiveness of the ring's propeller protection has not yet been confirmed. GoDrone assesses production as small pilot batches (source).

update Mi-28NM — a Ukrainian FPV attacks a helicopter firing LMUR for the second time

The Ukrainian "Prybultsi" battalion of the 115th Mechanized Brigade has for the second time hit a Russian Mi-28NM with a drone at the same location in Belgorod Oblast — between Ustinka and Rovenki (source). The signal is that the targets are now aircraft striking with LMUR (light multipurpose guided missile "Izdeliye 305") from ranges over 20 km. That distance had been considered safe (source).

In the second episode the drone flew into a rotor blade and was probably thrown off — a similar case occurred in July. Russian channels allow that the videos are not new and that both episodes may involve the same aircraft (source). The status of the helicopters is unknown.

Counter-UAV and EW

Ukraine's SkyForce is testing SFERA — a platform for automatic interception of high-speed and jet-powered targets

Interception of jet-powered "Gerans" is shifting from manual piloting to an automated loop. SFERA combines control, optical navigation and autonomous terminal guidance of the interceptor. It is being built as a universal layer on top of various platforms, and algorithms for high-speed targets are currently being refined (source).

In parallel, the "Come Back Alive" foundation delivered to the troops 80 test interceptors against jet-powered "Shaheds" for 13.6 million UAH, i.e. about 170 thousand UAH apiece. Since September the foundation has contracted several hundred experimental units from various manufacturers (source). This points to competitive rather than monopoly selection.

update P1-SUN — Japan's Ministry of Defense signed a contract with SkyFall to supply interceptors

The first Asian country is officially buying Ukrainian combat experience in countering drones. According to the Japanese Ministry of Defense, the contract was signed on October 9; the value and volume were not disclosed (source). Defense Minister Shinjiro Koizumi called the delivery a priority.

Tokyo's interest covers the P1-SUN line, including an AI version and the high-speed JetKiller variant. A Russian channel cites its speed as up to 370 km/h, warhead 500 g, ceiling 9000 m and range 30 km, and attributes "more than 3500 downed targets" to the manufacturer (source). There is no independent verification. The link to preparing for Chinese kamikaze drones is made by the Russian channel; the Japanese side itself has not stated it. The Russian commentator also allows for localisation in Japan — this is his forecast.

Ukraine's Rebel Group released vehicle-mounted OPERA-OX EW systems to protect vehicles from FPVs

Protecting transport from drones is becoming a serial product with an emphasis on concealment. OPERA-OX FR carries up to 14 jamming modules on a protective frame with magnetic mounts. OPERA-OX BOX — up to 13 modules in a housing disguised as a roof rack. Claimed jamming radius is at least 70 m, with a choice of four frequency bands (source). 70 m is the FPV "final dash" zone, not cover for a convoy.

update MILELRS — breakdown of the AUTO_TUNE mechanism that lets FPVs evade EW

[TECH] The post contains the operating algorithm, modes and recommendations for EW crews (source). The ELRS-based firmware (ExpressLRS, an open drone radio-control protocol) divides a wide band, for example 2100–2700 MHz, into 24 intervals of 25 MHz. The receiver counts lost packets: if fewer than 80% of expected packets are received in an interval, it is marked "bad". The mask is sent to the controller via telemetry and is applied by both sides after 12 steps.

FHSS frequencies falling in a "bad" interval are moved to a "good" one while preserving the offset. Therefore, jamming the FHSS working band does not bring the drone down until the entire AUTO_TUNE range is covered. The authors quote an EW crew's complaint: "tried all the frequencies… it's beating us for now". The advice to operators is to log not only CUSTOM_FREQ but also the AUTO_TUNE field and to plan jamming taking the entire wide band into account. The post does not explicitly name the side using the firmware.

Russian developers are promoting aerostats with nets as passive protection of facilities against UAVs

Aerostat systems with suspended nets create a physical barrier at a set altitude. It does not depend solely on electronics and is presented as a complement to existing detection and counter-UAV systems. The "New Generation Airships" project is promoting the solution for oil refineries, substations, ports and warehouses, primarily in the markets of Arab countries (source). This is developer marketing: there are no data on combat trials.

Russian channel publishes claims about the "Generator" microwave system in final testing

Citing a PLA (People's Liberation Army of China) demonstration of the HPM emitter (high-power microwave weapon) Hurricane-3000, a Russian channel claims that the Russian counterpart "Generator" is in the final stage of testing (source). It allegedly generates pulses at frequencies of up to hundreds of hertz and creates an "impassable zone" for small UAVs. No source or parameters are given. This is an unconfirmed claim, not an established fact.

Russian "Rubikon" center publishes footage of hunting Ukrainian interceptors and long-range drones

The fight is shifting to the "interceptor vs. interceptor" level. The Russian center is posting hits on Ukrainian anti-aircraft drones "Blyskavka" and DARTS DM, as well as Hornet, FPV drones and DJI Mavic (source). Separately, downed long-range FP-2, "Maya" and LORD are shown (source). This is a propaganda compilation, but it records which Ukrainian types the Russian side considers priorities.

Ground robots

update TerMIT — Ukrainian UGV to be serially produced in Canada with Canadian autonomy

The UGV (unmanned ground robotic system) from Ukraine's Tencore is moving to its third foreign production site after Finland's Insta and Germany's Quantum Systems. Canada's Dominion Dynamics will install its AuraNet autonomous control system on the tracked platform. Launch is planned for 2027; thousands of vehicles are planned over two years, a third of which will be transferred to the Armed Forces of Ukraine (source). Operating range is up to 40 km; Ottawa's long-term goal is an Arctic version. This continues the Build with Ukraine line — moving production out of reach of strikes.

update Ardal 920 — Ukraine's Burevii integrates Saber combat modules onto its UGV

The cargo platform is becoming a fire platform. Burevii and Roboneers signed a memorandum on installing Saber modules on the "Ardal 920". Four variants are under consideration: for the PKT, M240, twin AK-74 and 40-mm MK19 or AGL-53 grenade launchers (source). Platform payload is up to 250 kg, speed 14 km/h. Communications run over four channels: two IP channels, one of them via Starlink, and two radio channels; control is in CoreLink software.

update NC13 — Ukrainian strike UGV unit claims 400+ hits in nine months

NC13 unit commander Mykola "Makar" Zinkevych gives results for nine months: over 400 hits, more than 160 assault and sabotage operations and "6,000 lives saved" (source). In Operation "Vivaldi", robots distracted the Russian side and struck command posts and UAV operator positions before the infantry moved in. The figures come from the unit itself.

"Argus" UGV covered 4.5 km beyond line of sight carrying three fuel canisters

This is field feedback from soldiers on the "Hermes" promotional channel: the platform never lost control on a route through several tree lines (source). Drawbacks are stated plainly: on loose ground with a load the vehicle skids, and stable video at range requires a relay. It is proposed to mount it on an escort drone. The "UGV plus airborne relay" pairing replicates the Ukrainian "Baton" scheme.

Military AI, cyber and cognitive operations

Citizen Lab exposes spyware infection via ad auctions, two-thirds of traffic went through Yandex's exchange

This is a ready-made channel for targeting a specific device, including official and frontline phones. Israel's Discover-Tech, listed as a vetted ad vendor, slipped a script into the winning banner based on the target's advertising ID or IP. Only the target received the code; no clicking was required. This is how at least 45 devices on the Al Jazeera network were attacked with Candiru spyware in 2024–2025 (source).

From March to June 2026, about 3.8 billion bids passed through the platform, roughly one in five with such a script. Impressions reached networks of the Israeli and Italian defense ministries, the Swedish Armed Forces, NATO, Saab, Raytheon, Elbit. An impression by itself is not an infection, the authors note. 67.4% of bids went through Yandex's exchange. Google and IAB Europe disconnected the company; Yandex did not. The report's practical conclusion: block ads at the gateway, force-reset the advertising ID on official devices, and keep no free games or players on frontline phones.

Madyar warns: Russian "Pravda" network is poisoning chatbots with millions of articles

The commander of the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces calls generative PSYOPs (information-psychological operations) a strategic threat for 2027. About two hundred sites of the "Pravda" network publish 10–20 thousand templated articles per day, i.e. 4–6 million per year. They are written not for people but for AI search (source). According to him, the largest chatbots reproduce such narratives in a third of cases. This shifts information warfare from audiences to model training data.

Russian channel proposes isolated LLM assistants for headquarters closer to the front line

Open neural networks block military queries, so it is proposed in the Russian forces to deploy a local LLM (large language model) without internet access. Manuals and technical documentation are loaded into it (source). The author claims this has already been implemented at Rostec and many headquarters, and the task is to extend such assistants to the SSO and spetsnaz. Estimated cost is 2–5 million rubles per set. In parallel, Russian war correspondents present the Ministry of Defense's "Data Showcase" as a first step toward an AI-based troop command system (source).

US Marine Corps to hold a "humans vs. machine" tournament on a staff simulator

From December 1, 2026 to April 1, 2027, Marine Corps University will hold FIGHT CLUB Humans vs. Machine. Service members will play against the autonomous agent Strategy Robot on Command Professional Edition in two scenarios: a carrier group battle and countering a drone swarm (source). Each battle will be followed by a debrief with an LLM analyst. The goal is to test AI simultaneously as an opposing force and as a trainer for commanders.

Other areas

update Switchblade — US AeroVironment and Taiwan's Thunder Tiger to study launches from uncrewed boats

The American loitering munition may get a Taiwanese maritime carrier. The October 15 memorandum provides for evaluating integration of the Switchblade launcher onto Thunder Tiger USVs (uncrewed surface vessels) and ground platforms, as well as studying Taiwanese industry's capabilities for future joint production (source). For Taiwan, this is a "swarm from the sea" scenario against an amphibious landing.

update V-BAT — Shield AI and AIDC delivered the first aircraft to Taiwan's coast guard

Taiwan's coast guard received the first of 12 ship-based V-BATs for maritime reconnaissance of the Chinese fleet and patrols (source). In parallel, Taiwan continues flight testing of American MQ-9B from Hualien Air Base over the eastern coast (source).

US builds DJI replacement into the strike loop: C100 guided a 120-mm mortar round by laser

The American standard-issue company quadcopter PDW C100 with the STAG-5 laser designator guided a precision 120-mm mortar round at a test range in Utah to a range exceeding the standard range for a smoothbore mortar (source). The US is not simply copying the "Mavic" role but is immediately making the copter a link in the reconnaissance-strike loop.

update Geran-4 — Russian side claims strikes on a mother ship for Ukrainian USVs

Russian "Geran-4" with a seeker (homing head) attacked three dry cargo ships in the Black Sea and a vessel that was allegedly used to launch USVs (source). Even the Russian channel notes: there is as yet no objective confirmation of Ukrainian boats being launched from vessels on the open sea.

Ukraine, according to The Times, used British K3 Scout USVs near Sochi

If the reports are accurate, a British naval drone was used against Russian targets. This concerns the K3 Scout from Kraken Technology: range about 1200 km, modular design allows it to carry aerial drones, reconnaissance and EW (source). Britain purchased 20 such boats; how many were transferred to Ukraine is unknown. According to "Militarnyi", one drone penetrated the defensive perimeter of the port of Sochi (source). There is no official confirmation. In August, Kraken itself discovered that Chinese equipment on the boats was transmitting data to China.

Long-range strike systems

update Geran-5 — monitoring records speeds of 700–800 km/h instead of the previous 450–600

The Russian jet-powered strike drone has approached cruise missiles in speed. This shortens the reaction window for Ukrainian air defense and pushes interception onto more expensive assets. According to AMK Mapping monitoring, individual vehicles over western Ukraine flew at 700–800 km/h (source).

Previous Ukrainian intelligence estimates: cruise speed 450–600 km/h, range up to 950 km, mass 850 kg, warhead 90 kg, engine — Chinese Telefly TF-TJ2000A. Analysts allow for either an upgrade or a new type of drone-missile. There is no independent confirmation.

Against this background, reports of a "Geran-6" project with a 600 kg warhead and a ballistic trajectory are being examined. The conclusion: this is no longer a drone but a two-stage missile weighing about two tonnes with a sustainer turbojet of roughly 500 kgf thrust (source). The very existence of the technical requirement has not been confirmed.

update Molniya-2 — spotted with a bent antenna held by zip ties: "Rassvet" and decoy theories

A Russian Molniya-2 with an unknown payload has sparked debate on both sides of the front. The photo shows a logo and an antenna, bent and fastened with zip ties (source). "Oboronka" states outright that this is not a "Bureau 1440" terminal but a broken Starlink on an autonomous version with an AI module without communications, fitted for the sake of disinformation (source). One channel relays a rumor: "Word is that the first airframes on Rassvet terminals have flown. Let's wait and watch" (source). There is no confirmed use.

update Starshield — The Telegraph names Musk as the initiator of the restrictions, Zelensky speaks of incomplete restoration

The source of the restriction on US military satellite communications for Ukraine remains disputed, and the communications themselves have become a bargaining chip. The Telegraph, citing four sources, writes that Musk himself proposed the speed restriction to Trump (source). Reuters claims the order came from the White House, but not from Trump. Musk stated that it is not he but the US authorities who are responsible for the restrictions.

Zelensky said in Brussels that speeds are being restored but have not returned to previous levels (source). The cost of the outage was described by Politico, quoting a Ukrainian officer whose unit guides Hornet via satellite: "It's comparable to a nuclear strike… All operations are suspended" (source). According to the WSJ, US senators discussed a scheme with Kyiv: 100 days without strikes on Russian oil refineries in exchange for extending Starlink coverage 300 km deep into Russia (source). Kallas stated that Europe cannot replace Starlink (source).

Attacks on the European ground segment continue. Polish security services have detained another suspect in the arson of a Starlink station — according to Polish media, a Ukrainian citizen (source). There is a theory of Turkish mafia involvement (source). The party who ordered it has not been identified.

Priority 2. Military innovation

US Army creates the FASCOM autonomous systems command

Autonomy is becoming a separate vertical in the US Army. The Future and Autonomous Systems Command (FASCOM) is being formed, and a position of executive director for autonomous systems procurement is being introduced (source). By fiscal year 2028, autonomy is to be integrated into fires, reconnaissance, logistics and obstacle breaching. Tactical UAS operator (MOS 15X) and robotics technician (MOS 390A) positions are being scaled across all relevant formations.

European Defence Agency tested AIRSENSE navigation without satellites and without a ground station

Europe is closing its dependence on GNSS (global navigation satellite systems) with its own means. AIRSENSE from Spain's GMV and Indra determines position through onboard AI image processing. The Spanish reconnaissance-strike TARSIS-W flew over 100 km in Portugal at altitudes up to 2100 m without transmitting data to the ground (source). The weak point is candidly named: over the sea, accuracy drops due to a lack of landmarks. Operational readiness — no later than 2028.

CSG, Mossberg and Palladyne AI are developing SwarmShot, a swarm of interceptors with shotgun charges

This is an attempt to make short-range C-UAS (Counter-Unmanned Aircraft Systems) cheaper through reusability. The interceptors fire smoothbore ammunition, while the SwarmOS software allocates targets within the group without central control (source). The first platform is the Gremlin-X quadcopter. The project is at the development stage.

update Delta — the Ukrainian system will become the basis of a digital fortifications registry through 2028

The Ukrainian government has approved a strategy for the engineering preparation of defensive lines through 2028. A unified geoinformation platform is being created on the basis of "Delta," with an electronic passport for each structure: coordinates, photos, condition (source). A separate priority is anti-drone protection of logistics routes.

Ukraine's The Fourth Law and Odd Systems launch the Foundation project to produce thermal imaging sensors in Europe and the US

Ukrainian companies are moving into semiconductors — a bottleneck for night FPV and interceptors. The goal is to quadruple thermal sensor output in Europe and double it in the US within three years (source). The first sites, First Foundation in Europe and Second Foundation in the US, are planned for 2027; financing agreements have not yet been announced.

update X-BAT — Shield AI and Greece's GEK TERNA will create a production and repair center in Greece

The memorandum provides for a full cycle in Greece: components, integration, training and maintenance of the vertical take-off UAV with reduced radar signature (source). The terms of production sharing are still under discussion.

France plans to reactivate the Nostradamus over-the-horizon radar, Europeans provide Ukraine with two-thirds of intelligence

The French Foreign Minister stated that Europeans already provide Ukraine with two-thirds of its intelligence: optical and electronic satellite reconnaissance, ballistic launch data from long-range ground radars, and radio intercepts (source). France plans to bring Nostradamus out of mothballs; it detects targets via ionospheric reflection at distances up to the Urals. Zelensky cautions: ballistic launch data still comes from the US.

North Korea tested the Zam-2.0 high-speed supercavitating torpedo with AI guidance

According to the DPRK Defense Ministry, a torpedo with AI in its search and guidance system was tested on October 15 (source). There is no independent data.

Turkey adopted SOM-B1T cruise missiles with an indigenous engine

[TECH] The post contains performance specifications and the guidance suite (source). Instead of the French Microturbo TRI-40, it is fitted with the Turkish KTJ-3200 turbojet from Kale. Range over 250 km, warhead about 230 kg. Guidance is combined: INS (inertial navigation system), GPS, terrain-contour correction and an imaging infrared seeker with automatic target recognition. Turkey is closing another import dependence.

Russian business asks for a public-private model for protecting facilities from UAVs

"Delovaya Rossiya" proposes building shared counter-drone infrastructure with private money and concessions, recouping it through civilian services such as delivery and monitoring (source). The trigger was that protection of facilities was placed on businesses without standards: tens, and for large facilities hundreds, of millions of rubles per facility. A representative of NPO "Kaisant" adds that a unified radar field is needed.

The Ukrainian long-range campaign is expanding in depth and in target types. For the first time, Gazprom's Surgut condensate stabilization plant in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug, about 2350 km from the border, was attacked (source). This is not a refinery but a node on which the transport of gas from northern fields depends. The Russian Defense Ministry claimed 644 Ukrainian drones shot down overnight; all four Moscow airports were closed (source).

The Russian side is shifting strikes to western Ukraine, 100–200 km from the Polish border. The Kromberg & Schubert plant in Lutsk and the SEBN plant in Chortkiv were hit, as well as logistics in Kovel and Rivne (source). Putin ordered continued massive strikes on the defense industry and logistics. Gerasimov claimed the capture of Dobropillia and an advance to within 5 km of Zaporizhzhia (source). Ukrainian sources dispute the territorial balance, taking into account the results of Operation "Vivaldi."

According to satellite imagery from Jonpy and Covert Cabal, Russia is refilling its storage bases: T-90M at the 22nd base in Kostroma Oblast, "Malva" and "Giatsint-K" near the Finnish border (source). This is a direct indicator of a strategic reserve being formed while infantry tactics are used at the front.

Risks for Ukraine are shifting to the rear. The Cabinet is discussing lowering draft deferments at defense enterprises to 85%. The industry warns of broken production cycles amid a 300% increase in drone contracts relative to 2025 (source). Patriot interceptors are in short supply; the US has suspended sales to allies. Romania proposes a NATO Black Sea command against drones and naval mines (source).

A separate signal is Russian "flag-bearer drones" planting flags to simulate control. The 92nd Brigade of the Ukrainian Armed Forces destroyed one such drone (source). Russian commentators suspect AI-faked flags in Defense Ministry videos. The foreign contingent is also switching to drones: the "Bolivar" battalion of the SBU Special Operations Center "Alpha" has about 250 fighters, predominantly Colombians, and the commander claims no killed in action over 15 months of "drone" warfare (source).

What to watch

• Satellite communications have definitively become a bargaining chip. Starlink coverage extending 300 km deep into Russia is being discussed as a trade for a pause in strikes on oil refineries. In parallel, an unconfirmed rumor is circulating about "Rassvet" terminals for the Russian "Molniya-2".

• A Geran-5 speed of up to 800 km/h, if confirmed, would render some of the cheap interceptors obsolete. The Ukrainian side's response is interception automation (SFERA) and competitive procurement of jet-powered interceptors.

• The protection of FPV links is growing faster than EW capabilities. Adaptive jamming avoidance in MILELRS and proprietary FHSS in DRAKON shift the emphasis to "smart" jamming and passive measures: aerostats with nets, ring shrouds.

• Ukrainian counter-drone experience has become an export commodity. Japan is buying the P1-SUN, Canada is localizing TerMIT, Lithuania the "Damba".

• Advertising auctions have turned out to be a channel for targeted device infection. For armies, this is a direct argument against commercial apps on service phones.

What's new in UAVs and counter-UAV

• StarGate (Ukraine, SkyFall) — evacuation hexacopter; 150 kg; 15 km one way; Starlink plus L-Link; net launcher and EW; from $50 thousand.

• DRAKON (Ukraine, EDRONE) — reconnaissance, bomber or relay; proprietary FHSS; up to 50 minutes of flight; camera with 10x zoom.

• "Baton/D4" — fixed-wing strike drone around $1300; communication via a quadcopter relay.

• "Knyaz Vladimir Svyatoslavovich" (Russia) — ring wing; up to 50 km; automatic target lock on loss of link.

• Geran-5 (Russia) — 700–800 km/h recorded.

• SFERA (Ukraine, SkyForce) — automation of interception of jet-powered targets.

• OPERA-OX FR and BOX (Ukraine, Rebel Group) — vehicle-mounted EW up to 14 modules; radius from 70 m.

• P1-SUN (Ukraine, SkyFall) — contract with the Japanese Ministry of Defense.

• SwarmShot — a swarm of reusable interceptors with shotgun charges.

• AIRSENSE (Spain, EDA) — navigation without GNSS and without a ground station; flight of over 100 km.

• TerMIT (Ukraine and Canada) — production with AuraNet from 2027.

• Ardal 920 (Ukraine) — Saber modules from a machine gun to a 40-mm AGL.

• "Argus" — UGV; 4.5 km beyond line of sight; gets stuck on loose ground.

• Aerostats with nets (Russia) — a passive barrier for facilities.

• ALDAN and ALDAN 12 (Russia) — the detector has been taught to recognize Walksnail Ascent digital video.

Military space and space-based data

Starshield and the question of communications sovereignty. The restriction of American military satellite communications for Ukraine has exposed a dependency that allies are now writing into contracts. The United Kingdom, according to topwar, is reviewing its deal with the US on military communications satellites because of a possible "kill switch" on the American side (source).

Counter-space systems. US military officials told the WSJ about the use of space weapons in operations in Venezuela and Iran. The video report shows ground-based EW systems for jamming satellite communications and detecting threats to their own spacecraft (source). This is a rare public acknowledgment of the use of space weapons.

Organizational structure and constellations. The US Space Force (USSF) has established a special operations command, SPACEFOR-SOC, at MacDill Air Force Base — the ninth component command. It works on behalf of USSOCOM (source). India has signed contracts worth about $434 million for the GSAT-7C communications and surveillance satellite for the Air Force (source). Anatoly Zak published a visualization of the Russian "Rassvet" spacecraft from "Bureau 1440" (source).

Space-based intelligence as strike verification. Imagery confirms damage to five of the nine buildings of the "Yandex" data center in Vladimir Oblast, which houses the "Galushkin" supercomputer (source). British intelligence published an image of Khanskaya airfield: an Su-34, an Su-35 and two ammunition depots were destroyed (source). FPRI assesses from imagery that the main infrastructure is currently out of action, but with funding and concentration of resources Iran is potentially capable of resuming missile production within a year (source).

Data access. No new open sources appeared over the past day. The main change is the restriction of access that was already in place: according to Russian analysts' assessments, American intelligence information also flowed through Starshield, so its slowdown is primarily a blow to a data channel. Open trackers continue to expose events: Flightradar showed a collapse in traffic over central Russia when Moscow airports closed. The IRGC attacked a tanker in the Strait of Hormuz that was sailing with its AIS (automatic identification system for ships) switched off (source). Italy's ENAV restored air traffic control via a backup satellite network after a ground network failure (source).

Under the radar

• A Russian bureaucratic barrier for air defense. The state secrets protection service in the Russian Armed Forces bans tablets and phones, without which the situational awareness programs "Groza" and "Svod" cannot work. The farther from the front, the stricter the bans (source).

• [TECH] Aerodynamics of a 300 km/h interceptor. Drag grows in proportion to the square of speed, and power to the cube. For 300 km/h, a CdA of no more than 0.0044 m² is needed versus 0.03–0.05 for an open frame, so a lifting body is needed rather than more powerful motors. The limit is Mach 0.75 at the blade tip (source).

• [TECH] Adaptive EW avoidance in MILELRS. A detailed algorithm for masking "bad" intervals and advice on planning jamming frequencies (source).

• Detector taught to see Walksnail digital video. A packet-based digital signal requires knowing the system's "signature". New ALDAN firmware adds Walksnail Ascent and a full indicator masking mode (source).

• Aerostat net barrier. Passive protection independent of the target's radio link — a potential answer to fiber-optic and autonomous drones (source).

• Testing of the "Argus" UGV beyond line of sight. A field review with drawbacks and a proposal for an aerial relay, on the "Germes" promotional channel (source).

And what about our Chinese comrades?

• At the "Great Wall — 2026" forum, the People's Armed Police of the PRC gathered more than 320 experts from 62 countries. The topic was AI and drones in the hands of terrorists; the conclusion was that international counter-mechanisms based on the same technologies are needed (source).

• An official PLA publication calls for immediately turning AI, swarm UAVs and cognitive warfare into new methods of combat. The argument: a lost technological advantage cannot be regained (source).

• The PLA demonstrated layered defense against a UAV raid: the OW5 laser, the Hurricane-3000 microwave emitter, the FK-3000 SAM system and the Type 625 under a single command center (source). The Russian "Russkiy Inzhener" criticizes the Chinese laser with a power of about 3 kW: the exposure time is longer than an FPV needs to reach the system's dead zone (source).

• The Project 956E destroyer "Fuzhou", after modernization, received Chinese HHQ-16 and HHQ-10 SAM systems and YJ-12A anti-ship missiles in place of the "Shtil" and "Moskit" (source).

• Researchers at Changsha University proposed VDDM — drones as mobile computing nodes. Modeling shows a 30–40% reduction in latency compared to ground relays (source).

• Against China, the US has formed the 4th Multi-Domain Task Force with a strength of 2100 personnel. Its task is to break the Chinese "kill chain" from the territory of Japan and the Philippines with "Typhon" and HIMARS systems (source).

• Janes confirms a practical consequence of the Starlink crisis that is absent from Russian-Ukrainian Telegram. Ukrainian units are increasing their use of the German HX-2 from Helsing where Russian interference jams Starlink, including near Donetsk. Thousands of sorties since October 2025 and 100 percent accuracy in EU OPEX trials under GNSS jamming are claimed (source).

• The Defense Post: Germany is funding "tens of thousands" of Quantum WIT interceptors to protect Ukrainian energy infrastructure in winter, coordinated through MOSAIC UXS from Quantum Systems (source). The scale is an order of magnitude larger than what is visible from fund-backed transfers in Telegram.

• Interesting Engineering: the American company Aurelius Systems has mounted the autonomous Archimedes laser on the Ox cargo unmanned vehicle from American Rheinmetall (source). This is a Western analogue of the "UGV as a mobile air defense point" idea, which in Telegram is discussed with reference to the Russian "Kuryer" with a machine gun.

• L3Harris and Skydio have integrated Falcon IV radios with the Wraith waveform into the X10D. The Wraith Shield module scans the spectrum and jams hostile drones, and compatibility with the 150 thousand radios already deployed removes the problem of new infrastructure (source).

• Thales has launched low-rate production of BeamTracker — a five-kilogram signals intelligence payload for small UAVs: 1–18 GHz range, direction-finding accuracy of about 3° (source). Signals intelligence is moving down to the level of tactical drones.

• Defence-UA notes an asymmetry: the Bundeswehr has fired the IRIS-T SLM for the first time, while Ukraine already has 11 batteries and four years of combat experience (source). This supports the thesis that Ukrainian practice is ahead of the producer armies.
