Priority 1. UAVs, counter-UAV, military AI and new technologies in conflicts
Ukraine: new ways of employing drones
Ukrainian troops for the first time evacuated a wounded soldier from a position using the heavy hexacopter "Ayudag-6"
The first publicly confirmed evacuation of a person by an aerial drone takes heavy multicopters beyond the cargo niche. The wounded infantryman of the 30th OMBr (separate mechanized brigade) could not be taken out by a UGV (unmanned ground vehicle): intense Russian drone activity and mining of the terrain prevented it. The unmanned ground systems company of the 92nd OShBr (separate assault brigade), together with the manufacturer Gurzuf Defence, then modified the aircraft so that the load would not swing and the drone would not tip over. It was piloted by an operator of the 30th OMBr; the 14th OMBr and the 10th Army Corps also took part in the operation (source).
According to open data, the "Ayudag-6" lifts 70–90 kg, and on certain flights has lifted up to 130 kg (source). This is less than the claimed 150 kg of SkyFall's evacuation StarGate, which is fitted with a stretcher capsule. A Russian channel claims that StarGate is protected against interceptors by net launchers and suggests that the Gurzuf drone is armed with them as well (source).
Russian channels took the event seriously. Milinfolive believes that evacuation will be followed by rotation and infiltration by air, but such flights will have to be covered by their own counter-interceptors (source). TexBPLA objects: such a drone would be shot down at the very forward edge, but transport from an evacuation point to the rear is realistic (source).
update Delta — by 1 October, 3.6 million reconnaissance mission reports and almost 500 thousand interceptions; report flow grew ninefold
The figures show that the Ukrainian digital battle management system (DELTA) has turned into a mass database of strike results. At the beginning of the year units entered about 196 thousand reports per month, and in September more than 1.8 million, i.e. nine times more (source). By 1 October, 3.6 million reconnaissance mission reports had accumulated, over a million cargo deliveries by drones, 168 thousand UGV missions and 370 thousand remote mining operations.
The most telling figure is almost 500 thousand missions to intercept aerial targets. Drone interception has become mass work rather than an experiment. Such a volume of labeled data is a ready basis for training AI models and comparing tactics.
Ukrainian air defense against jet-powered "Gerans"
update "Bars" — the most effective Ukrainian interceptor against jet-powered "Gerans"
A jet-powered strike drone converted into an interceptor has proved to be the most effective Ukrainian means against jet-powered "Gerans". One unit destroyed five "Gerans" with five "Bars" (source). The "Bars" was originally a strike aircraft with a range of 700–1000 km, a speed of over 700 km/h and a warhead of 22.5–60 kg. It has gone through more than 40 modifications.
The scale of the problem was described by NATO Supreme Allied Commander Transformation Admiral Pierre Vandier: according to him, the jet-powered versions of the "Geran" reduced the interception rate of Ukrainian air defense from nine out of ten to half (source).
Brave1: two Ukrainian teams are preparing surface-to-air missiles against jet drones costing up to 20 thousand dollars
Ukraine is trying to close the price gap between a cheap jet drone and an expensive SAM (surface-to-air guided missile). Brave1 cluster head Andriy Hrytseniuk reported that two teams are preparing missiles for combat use, and the price cap was a condition of the competition (source). For comparison: the American Coyote interceptor costs 100–130 thousand dollars, Patriot missiles cost millions. Development took two years; in total, 10 teams in Ukraine are working on cheap SAMs.
Zelensky: turrets are performing well against "Shaheds", orders are being increased
At a meeting with the defense minister and the commander-in-chief, additional production capacity for turrets was identified (source). This is the first direct statement on expanding turret procurement specifically at the presidential level.
Ukrainian interceptor MAC DEAD FLY-450 — a quadcopter that briefly accelerates to 450 km/h
A Russian channel describes it as a means of hunting Russian jet-powered drones (source). The high speed is sustained only briefly; a terminal guidance system is optional. For a copter this is a very high speed: it is designed for a short dash to the intercept point, not for pursuit.
Satellite communications on the LBS (line of combat contact)
update Starlink/Starshield — the speed restriction hit helicopters shooting down "Shaheds" and mid-strike
The restriction on terminal operating speed turned out to be not only a problem for jet interceptors. Zelensky reported that on various sections of the front the equipment stops working at speeds of 130–161 km/h. This slows logistics and limits the use of mid-range drones and interceptors of jet-powered "Shaheds" (source).
Defense minister adviser Serhiy "Flash" Beskrestnov pointed to another vulnerability. A significant share of "Shaheds" are shot down by Ukrainian helicopters flying faster than 160 km/h, and the Starshield restriction disrupted an important data link to the aircraft (source). Senator Blumenthal, after a briefing by Zelensky, confirmed that access to Starshield remains partially restricted (source), and Trump stated that he does not know who gave the order (source).
Both sides are recording the consequences on the ground. Russian blogger Romanov, as retold by the "Zhivov" channel, confirms that strikes by Ukrainian mid-range drones on the "Novorossiya" highway have noticeably weakened (source). The Ukrainian "Third World War" broadcast claims that Russia has resumed convoy movement toward Zaporizhzhia (source). A Russian channel also claims without evidence that Starshield terminals were installed on special long-range GUR drones for direct control, bypassing the internet (source).
update Starlink ground infrastructure in Europe — a map of gateways and hubs published; in Bulgaria 11 of 17 antennas burned
Attacks on the ground segment are adding up to a series: in September–October — Poland, Bulgaria and Lithuania. A Russian channel published a map of Starlink gateways and backbone hubs in Europe (source). According to "Rybar", at the site in the Plana mountains near Sofia 11 of 17 antennas were set on fire, and two young men with German passports were detained (source). The Lithuanian prime minister proposes expanding the powers of the special services to counter drones.
Russian side: air defense, EW, regulation
ZAK-30 "Tsitadel" — combat operation shown for the first time: AI auto-lock and several turrets per control post
Russia has shown an anti-aircraft artillery system that takes on the role of the last line of defense for facilities. Several remotely controlled 30-mm mounts are connected to one control post, and targets are identified automatically using AI (source). According to the crew, "Tsitadel" shot down an FP-5 "Flamingo" cruise missile, and the time to engage a target is about 15 seconds (source).
Milinfolive notes a discrepancy: the shrapnel round with remote detonation is, according to some data, called ShS30, but the report shows ordinary high-explosive fragmentation 3UOF8 rounds (source). The system is already being offered for export: "Rosoboronexport" displayed it at an air show in Egypt (source). The limitation is obvious: the short range of the 30-mm cannon does not allow it to cover a large area.
The new generation of the Russian anti-aircraft "Molniya-PVO" has received machine vision with auto-lock
The upgraded fixed-wing anti-aircraft FPV "Molniya PVO SPP" is equipped with a round-the-clock machine vision module: it locks onto an aerial target, tracks it and guides itself in the terminal phase (source). The first version, in the assessment of a Russian channel, was a mediocre interceptor, while the new one, according to available data, inspires optimism. Interception without manual guidance in the final seconds is the key to fighting fast targets.
The Russian army is deploying EW battalions in every combined-arms army and motor rifle brigade
According to Ukrainian military analyst Dmytro Putiata, from 1 September an EW (electronic warfare) battalion is to appear in every combined-arms army, and from 1 December in every motor rifle brigade (source). The brigade's EW personnel establishment will grow from 83 to 151 people, officers from 8 to 18. The battalion is built from two companies: one suppresses UAVs, the other suppresses communications. This is institutional recognition that EW has become a mass support branch rather than an appendage.
From 1 March 2027, counter-drone EW equipment in Russia will have to be registered with Roskomnadzor
Government Resolution No. 1331 of 10 October creates a permitting barrier for civilian "jammers" (source). Applications are submitted only on paper at the place of use. The equipment must be listed in the register of Russian radio-electronic products, and by decision of the GKRCh (State Commission for Radio Frequencies) the software is also entered into the register of Russian software. Lack of the right to use EW is a new ground for refusal. The circle of such entities has already expanded: in spring 2025 departmental security received the right, and in June 2026 cash-in-transit services, special communications, and employees of the Bank of Russia and Sberbank.
The same document introduces registration of earth stations in motion operating via Russian NGSO satellites (in non-geostationary orbits). This is a regulatory framework for mobile terminals of Russian low-orbit communications. The system is not named in the document, but "Rassvet" by "Byuro 1440" fits the description.
Counter-drone protection in the regions is being singled out as a separate branch of administration. The Chelyabinsk Region has created a main directorate for unmanned aircraft systems whose task is protecting critical infrastructure rather than developing the industry (source). The Presidential Commissioner for the Protection of Entrepreneurs' Rights Aleksandr Shokhin stated that business is ready to participate in creating air defense systems for industrial facilities with state support, for example a pilot on an investment tax deduction (source).
Russian long-range strikes: range and carriers
update Geran-4: record flight of about 1472 km to Lviv, presumably with reconnaissance over the city
The jet-powered Geran-4, as a Russian channel reports, took off from the Tsimbulovo droneport in Oryol Region and made several circles over Lviv (source). It is assumed that there was no warhead or that it was lightened, and that the drone itself was conducting reconnaissance.
The circle of operators is expanding. The Rubikon center has begun striking with the "Geran-4 Seeker" at a warehouse in Novomoskovsk and the Epitsentr shopping center in Pidhorodne (source). The Geran-5 struck a logistics center in Khmelnytskyi (source). According to a Russian tally of Ukrainian reports, over the week use of Russian drones grew from roughly 1640 to 2700 (+65%), while the number of missiles fell from 75 to 66 (source).
update Kometa — HUR: 28 of 37 foreign components in Russian anti-jam navigation modules are American
Ukrainian intelligence took apart the Russian CRPA antenna (Controlled Reception Pattern Antenna, an antenna array that suppresses GNSS interference) "Kometa" (source). The remaining components come from Japan, the PRC, Switzerland and Taiwan. A key element protecting Russian drones from EW still depends on the American electronic component base.
Detectors and SDR
Ukrainian "Chuika 4.5.0" extends its range to 8.8 GHz and outputs intercepted video to an external screen
The manufacturer BlueBird Tech explains the update by the fact that Russian troops are spreading the video channels of FPVs and "Molniyas" across an ever wider spectrum (source). The detector scans four bands from 1080 to 8800 MHz in parallel in 4–8 seconds. Detection range is up to 4 km, weight 940 g, endurance up to 4.5 hours (source). Intercepted analog video can now be output to command post monitors.
The portable SDR analyzer D·Vision from Ukraine's CODE380 has entered the same niche. It picks up PAL/NTSC analog video and compatible DJI Mavic digital signals (source).
Consumer chips turned into SDRs: the Semtech LR2021 LoRa modem and the OpenWrt One router
Two projects show that a receiver for signals intelligence can be assembled from cheap mass-market chips. [TECH] The post covers an undocumented command, bandwidths, dynamic range measurements and limitations. In the ROM of the LR2021 modem, command 0x0290 was found, which outputs raw I/Q samples (the quadrature signal stream). The SDR (Software Defined Radio) operates from 100 to 2740 MHz versus the rated 150–960 and 1500–2600 MHz, drawing 5–10 mA (source).
The limitations are substantial. Only 6–7 of 16 bits actually work, and the stream is 250 thousand sample pairs per second. For an onboard detector or a sensor on a drone, this may be enough.
The OpenWrt One router was turned into a receiver with 40 MHz bandwidth and a 1.28 GB/s stream over 2.5 GbE (source). But retuning the frequency takes 25 seconds, and the 5.65–5.95 GHz analog FPV video band is inaccessible. It is a monitoring station, not a scanner (source).
Ground robots
Heavy Ukrainian UGV Protector hit by an FPV near Orikhiv while delivering logs
The four-ton platform, with a payload capacity of up to 1480 kg and a range of up to 400 km, was, according to footage from a Russian channel, working on fortification logistics (source). The Protector can be fitted with a combat module. The episode confirms a trend: the larger the UGV, the more visible it is to FPVs.
The market is consolidating. Ukraine's TENCORE is buying UGV manufacturers or stakes in them and assembling their products into a single "ecosystem", including the heavy wheeled drone of the TOR project and the amphibian MAT1LDA (source). The Russian 11th Engineer Brigade tested a homemade amphibian: the drone enters the water, raises its rear beam and proceeds as an uncrewed kamikaze boat or a reconnaissance craft (source).
Naval drones and the Black Sea
update Lancet: Russian loitering munition hit a Ukrainian USV under way
The uncrewed surface vessel (USV) was moving at high speed toward the Russian coast; it was detected by aerial reconnaissance and handed off to a Lancet crew (source). A hit on a fast, maneuvering maritime target expands the role of loitering munitions in coastal defense.
US Navy P-8A Poseidon patrol aircraft flew over the western Black Sea at low altitude for the first time in months
The aircraft arrived in Varna from Sigonella and patrolled off the Bulgarian coast, descending below 2700 m (source). Such a profile is better suited to searching for vessels than to electronic intelligence. A Russian channel links the flight to a search for USVs after attacks on bulk carriers in Bulgarian territorial waters (source).
update Magura: at the Bayonet Quest exercise, Ukrainian boats served as launch platforms for aerial drones
Launch pads were installed on the bows of UFORCE's Magura boats, from which the US Army launched UAVs (source). The role of the USV as a drone carrier is moving from Ukrainian practice into American practice. In Lithuania, from 19 to 30 October, a NATO exercise on detecting and neutralizing maritime drones is taking place near the port of Klaipėda (source).
Strike on St. Petersburg: what the imagery showed
Satellite imagery: the VK data center was damaged more heavily than thought, and anti-drone structures stood on only some of the buildings
The data center's main building sustained damage to its roof and walls, with traces of fire visible inside (source). A Russian channel admits that protective frames were on only some of the structures, and the unprotected ones were seriously damaged (source). At the oil terminal, three tanks caught fire (an RVS-15000 and two RVS-10000), one of which burned out completely. At the Ruchyi oil depot, an RVS-5000 was destroyed, and at the Ozon warehouse over 10 thousand m² burned (source).
A Russian engineering channel points to a tactical problem: the bulk of the drones came in from the Gulf of Finland. Mobile fire groups on the shore cannot reach targets over the water with machine guns, so the author proposes moving defense lines onto watercraft (source).
Priority 2. Military innovation
From November 18, China introduces export licences for drones with a range of 300 km or more and for key components
Beijing gains leverage over supplies of components on which Russian and other drone manufacturing depends. There is no ban, but a licence will have to be obtained and the end user specified (source). Controls cover drones with a range of 300 km or more and aircraft flying beyond the operator's visual line of sight for 30 minutes or more in winds of 12.86 m/s or more. Spraying systems with a capacity over 80 litres are listed separately. A licence is also required for aircraft engines, radio communications, navigation, autonomous control and swarm technologies. The channel expects delays and price increases for Russian manufacturers.
The Netherlands officially permits autonomous target engagement without constant human control
A Ministry of Defence document sent to parliament on October 15 sets the goal of performing more than half of combat missions with unmanned systems within five years (source). A single operator is to control a group of vehicles, and drones are to continue the mission and home in on the target if the link is lost due to EW. Human control can be ensured at the design and planning stages: area boundaries, time and conditions are set in advance. This is one of the most direct positions among NATO countries. Responsibility nonetheless remains with people and the state, and The Hague proposes regulating autonomous weapons through a new protocol to the Convention on Certain Conventional Weapons.
Coyote Block 3 — a reusable American interceptor with a microwave generator instead of a warhead
[TECH] The post covers the evolution of the Coyote family from Block 1 to Block 3: engines, seekers (homing heads), warheads and the missions of each version (source). The occasion was a US Army contract worth 729 million dollars for components of the LIDS short-range air defence system: the KuRFS radar and Coyote interceptors. Block 3 carries an HPM generator (High-Power Microwave). On closing with a swarm, it burns out the electronics of several drones and returns to base.
The Block 2C+RM version with a single turbojet engine and a new seeker is, in the author's assessment, a response to the jet-powered "Gerans". The Pentagon declassified data on 600 Coyote intercepts in Operation Epic Fury; the unit price is 100–130 thousand dollars.
The JIATF-401 counter-small-UAS guide names specific systems for each layer of defence
The Russian analytical centre KTsPN translated the document of the Pentagon's interagency body (source). The main thesis: there is no universal solution; a combination of technologies, tactics and authorities is needed. For bases, FS-LIDS with Coyote interceptors is proposed; for air deployment, the autonomous palletised RD-SUADS, which operates up to four days without refuelling. EW assets are Pulsar and the passive Ninja; radars are EchoShield (up to 400 drones simultaneously, distinguishing them from birds via machine learning) and KuRFS. The attached PDF is a scan without a text layer.
Taiwan's Thunder Tiger delivered 1520 strike FPV drones to the Pentagon under the Drone Dominance programme
Taiwan is entering the American market with a supply chain free of Chinese components. The 7.6 million dollar contract works out to about 5 thousand dollars per unit (source). The basis is the 10-inch Overkill: up to 120 km/h, 3 kg payload, up to 30 minutes of flight, Auterion flight controllers from the Blue UAS list. The team took 11th place in the first stage of the competition; participation in the next stages is so far only planned (source).
Ukraine and Germany are preparing joint defence projects worth 3 billion euros in 2027
This concerns joint production and development, not just deliveries (source). Ukraine's Roboneers and Germany's ARX Robotics agreed on a partnership on UGVs, and the joint venture Quantum Frontline Industries received an order for drones. The number of residents of Ukraine's preferential Defence City regime has grown to 63 (source).
Priority 3. Conflict around Ukraine: trends and signals
Front. Russia claimed the capture of Omelnyk and the start of an envelopment of Orikhiv from the north-east (source). At the same time, "Rybar" acknowledges that fresh Ukrainian forces have been moved into Orikhiv itself and are trying to dislodge Russian units (source). Near Dobropillia, DeepState recorded a Russian advance near Novyi Donbas of 4.3 km². This is far above October's average pace of 0.6 km² per day (source).
Operation "Vivaldi". The 3rd Army Corps of the AFU twice used armoured vehicles for assaults in the Russian rear: four vehicles broke through and dismounted infantry right at the positions of Russian UAV operators (source). The Ukrainian side claims that the 144th Motor Rifle Division has effectively ceased to function as an organised force (source). The corps has set up an operations security directorate responsible for concealment and deception (source).
A Russian analysis of the AFU's drone-assault tactics points to the main intelligence indicator of an offensive: the transfer of a UAV regiment or brigade to a narrow sector of the front, rather than of ground troops (source).
Air campaign. Russia struck Kyiv with 16 ballistic missiles, none shot down; at least 550 thousand households were left without power (source). For the second time Ukraine received no advance warning of the launch. Rubio speaks of a software failure in the Ukrainian early warning system several nights ago (EUCOM examined the circumstances), but does not know why there was no warning of the latest attack (source). Deliveries of Patriot missiles, according to Zelensky, have fallen to 12 per month (source).
Data centres have become full-fledged targets for both sides. Ukrainian provider "Datagroup" stated that its data centre in Kyiv was destroyed beyond recovery (source). The Ukrainian side earlier hit five of eight buildings of the Yandex data centre in Vladimir, including the "Galushkin" supercomputer (source). According to Clément Molin's map, in October Russian strikes again shifted to energy infrastructure and bridges (source).
A "Geran-3" strike on a park in Nova Vodolaha, 75 km from the line of contact, killed six people, including two children. Before the strike the drone made several circles, indicating real-time guidance (source).
Pressure on the Russian rear. On October 16, restrictions were imposed at 31 Russian airports within a day — a record for the year, at 20 of them simultaneously (source). Since the start of the year there have been 3.3 times more restrictions than in the same period of 2025. An FP-1 strike on the Salavat refinery disabled primary processing units with a combined capacity of about 10 million tonnes per year (source).
Diplomacy. Trump confirmed plans for a trilateral meeting with Russia and China in November (source). According to the "Zhivov" channel, the summit may take place on November 17–18 at APEC in Shenzhen without Zelensky (source). In Congress, Republicans Fitzpatrick and Bacon threaten to block 350 billion dollars for the Pentagon, including 102 billion for UAVs and UGVs, unless the administration toughens its position on Russia (source).
Long horizon. Ukraine approved a fortification plan for the north and north-east through 2028, modelled on the eastern ones: three rows of ditches, dragon's teeth and obstacles (source). This signals preparation for a protracted confrontation regardless of the negotiating track.
What to watch
- Heavy multicopters have begun carrying people. The first evacuation by an "Ayudag-6" opens the way to aerial rotation and infiltration and at the same time creates a new class of targets for interceptors.
- Dependence on Starlink/Starshield has become a vulnerability for three components of Ukrainian defence at once: midstrike, interceptors of jet-powered "Shaheds", and helicopter air defence. Both sides are already recording the effect on the ground.
- Interception economics is shifting down the price scale: Ukrainian SAMs at up to 20 thousand dollars, the reusable microwave Coyote, AI turrets and the Russian "Tsitadel". The bet is on cheap and automated means rather than missiles costing millions.
- EW is being institutionalised on both sides. In Russia — battalions in every army and brigade and state registration of civilian jammers; in Ukraine — detectors for an expanding spectrum.
- Chinese export licences from November 18 give Beijing leverage over supplies of motors, radio communications, navigation and swarm technologies for all drone manufacturers, including Russian ones.
What's new in UAVs and counter-UAV
• "Ayudag-6" (Gurzuf Defence, Ukraine) — first aerial evacuation of a wounded soldier; payload 70–90 kg, up to 130 kg on a one-off basis.
• "Bars" (Ukraine) — the most effective Ukrainian interceptor against jet-powered targets; 5 out of 5 in one unit.
• Cheap Brave1 SAMs (Ukraine) — two are being readied for use; price cap of 20 thousand dollars.
• MAC DEAD FLY-450 (Ukraine) — interceptor copter with a dash speed of up to 450 km/h.
• "Molniya PVO SPP" (Russia) — machine vision, auto-lock and terminal guidance onto an aerial target.
• ZAK-30 "Tsitadel" (Russia) — AI auto-lock; downed "Flamingo" missiles claimed.
• "Geran-4" (Russia) — flight of about 1472 km to Lviv, presumably reconnaissance.
• "Chuika 4.5.0" (BlueBird Tech, Ukraine) — detector covering 1080–8800 MHz, range up to 4 km.
• Coyote Block 3 (USA) — reusable interceptor with a microwave generator against swarms.
• Overkill (Thunder Tiger, Taiwan) — 1520 FPV drones for the Pentagon at 5 thousand dollars each.
• "Lancet" (Russia) — strike on a moving uncrewed surface vessel in the Black Sea.
Military space and space-based data
update Kosmos-2612 — approach to ICEYE-X36 down to a calculated 26 metres in a shared orbit
The Russian spacecraft has moved into the same orbital plane as the radar satellite that supplies Ukraine with SAR imagery (Synthetic Aperture Radar — radar imaging at night and through clouds). The Orbital Radar service calculated a minimum distance of 26 metres (source). InformNapalm stresses that this is a forecast based on open orbital data, not a measurement. Another channel cites an expert estimate of 1–2 km (source).
Both spacecraft are at an altitude of about 555 km with an inclination of roughly 97.8° (source). Entering the shared plane required costly manoeuvres, but approaches now cost almost no fuel. "Kosmos-2609" and "Kosmos-2614" are operating in the same area (source). "Rybar" points to a side effect: if the target evades the inspector, it spends fuel and shortens its service life; the channel itself calls for mass anti-satellite weapons (source).
Navigation. According to Lithuania's assessment, at least 36 GNSS (global navigation satellite systems) signal spoofing antennas have been installed in Kaliningrad Oblast. The Times also reports the construction there of a radar with a range of up to 3200 km (source).
Launch vehicles. "Geoskan" is working on a liquid-fuel light rocket: launch mass 55 t, length 25.9 m, payload 900 kg, first launch in 2031. Over five years the company has built and launched 17 satellites (source).
Data access. The restriction of Starshield for Ukraine and missed warnings of ballistic missile launches amount to a de facto narrowing of access to US military data. Rubio does not acknowledge pauses in intelligence sharing. A Russian channel claims that the stream of ICEYE SAR imagery with resolution down to 16 cm has been fed into Maven Smart System with the SafranAI (automated interpretation), MOSAIC UXS and dominAI modules via an Amazon cloud hub in Stockholm (source). This claim is unconfirmed. Another Russian channel compiled a list of foreign satellites providing Ukraine with intelligence: SAR — ICEYE, SAR-Lupe, SARah, COSMO-SkyMed, QPS-SAR; optical — CSO, WorldView, GeoEye, BlackSky; resolution from 18 to 100 cm (source). "Geoskan" opened an image bank for non-commercial use and updated the SONIKS portal to version 1.10 with automatic observation planning.
Under the radar
• MonoRACE (Delft University of Technology) — an autonomous drone flying at 100 km/h beat three former FPV world champions. It uses only a single camera and an IMU (inertial measurement unit), no GPS, and a neural network running at 500 Hz directly controls the motors. This is a direct bid for GNSS-free navigation and terminal guidance of interceptors (source).
• The Ukrainian strike drone "Lastochka", in addition to the electric version in use, has an ICE (internal combustion engine) variant — i.e., a bet on range (source).
• Inside the Ukrainian long-range drone MICH 2000: footage of preparation, launch, procurement, and wreckage (source).
• Ukrainian 3D-printed airless wheels for UGVs from Print & Live UA and iSCALE 3D: a set weighs 32–56 kg versus 88–144 kg for Western counterparts, up to +30% range, about 680 euros (source).
• Drone detectors must not be placed closer than one metre to each other: local oscillator signal leakage creates false alarms and blind spots. The manufacturer "Kvadro Kod" demonstrates this with logs (source).
• The pro-Ukrainian group TF141 claimed to have hacked the situational awareness platform of the 27th Motor Rifle Division of the Russian Armed Forces. According to a Russian channel, the screenshots do not confirm a compromise (source).
And what about our Chinese comrades?
• A second mothership for large UUVs (unmanned underwater vehicles) has been spotted in Guangzhou. It is about 150 m long versus more than 200 m for the Shanghai one, with six lifting masts instead of twelve. This may point to two parallel concepts for vehicles up to 45–50 m long (source).
• The "Yingji-9ER" anti-ship missile, first shown in Egypt, has received double the range: 30 km from a helicopter and 60 km from an aircraft. Weight is 105 kg, warhead 30 kg; the likely target is Taiwan's "Tuo Chiang" corvettes (source).
• Export licences for drones with a range of 300 km or more and components from 18 November, including swarm technologies (source).
• [upd] Fuxi — Norinco's humanoid robot is being trained for riot suppression (source).
• An FDD command-staff game on Taiwan showed that cyberattacks, communications jamming and cable cutting could paralyse the island without a landing. The methods are taken from the Salt Typhoon and Volt Typhoon groups (source).
• The Beijing "Blue Army" institute recommends that the PRC copy the US Project Meridian with its 120-day technology assessment cycle, but without conflicts of interest (source).
External analysis
• Kyiv Independent calls Starlink the key foundation of Ukraine's advantage in middle strike — strikes on rear logistics. This confirms the picture painted by both sides of the Telegram sphere: restricting terminals hits the most effective Ukrainian deep-strike tactic (source).
• At AUSA the Pentagon announced a restructuring: Task Force Autonomous Warfare within SOCOM, Project Agincourt, about 55 billion dollars for uncrewed systems, and a future four-star autonomous warfare command. The American response to the Ukrainian experience is bureaucratic centralisation on the scale of USSOCOM (source).
• Rheinmetall and Deutsche Telekom are turning the 5G network into a sensor: passive sensors on towers detect over 90% of low-altitude drones, and traffic anomalies give away vehicles controlled via the cellular network. This is the same channel that, according to Russian channels, Ukrainian long-range drones use (source).
• Chris Cappy's breakdown of Maven adds what is absent from the Telegram sphere: AI produced a tenfold increase in the number of targets in the first day of the war with Iran, but outdated data led to a strike on a school. The speed of automation is outpacing control mechanisms (source).
• An analysis of the reforms by AFU Commander-in-Chief Drapatyi — reducing groupings from eight to six and decentralising command — explains the background of Operation "Vivaldi". But it also stresses that the reforms do not solve the personnel shortage (source).
• Defender Media gives a figure that was not in the channels: "Bars" intercepts jet-powered targets in roughly 30% of cases. This is better than other Ukrainian interceptors, but far from solving the problem of jet-powered "Gerans" (source).
